PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording and/or reproducing device capable of securing the reliability of the device by rotating a spindle motor with a disk placed thereon in the state a movable member is press, when the specified position of the movable member with the spindle motor placed thereon is detected. SOLUTION: The device is provided with the movable member, which is movable toward the side of a disk-like information recording medium while placing the spindle motor 204 thereon, and which is exerted with the pressing force elastically by a press member, and also a position detecting means for detecting the specified position of the movable member, and then the spindle motor 204 is rotated in accordance with the output of this detecting means. The rotation of the spindle motor 204 is started in such a manner that the spindle motor 204 with the disk placed thereon is rotated in the state the movable member is press when the specified position of the movable member with the spindle motor 204 placed thereon is detected, thereby the reliability of the device is secured.
