METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE DIFFERENTIATION OF THE MOMENT OF SHORT-CIRCUIT OCCURRENCE IN ELECTRIC WIRES

The method and the device can be applied in cases of fire and law-court expertise and for bringing light to insurance events. They ensure reliable, portable and cheap technical facilities for the determination of the time of the occurrence of short-circuiting (before or during the time of the fire) in any electrical equipment without any limitations concerning the manner of laying the wires, regardless of the fact whether they are copper or aluminium ones. By the method, the thermoelectromotive voltage generated by a thermocouple formed by the molten end of the wire by the shortcircuiting is compared with the thermoelectromotive voltage generated by a thermocouple consisting of an intact section of the same wire and a special electrode. The reference sample is heated to a preset temperture difference with the electrodes and the difference of the thermoelectromotive voltages measured is compared with a threshold value. 4 claims, 1 figure
