Production of a steel coating on a steel - roll by built up welding

The steel is deposited in layers by welding in such a way that the roll is maintained at a temp. which is above the temp. of the martensite transformation of the weld layer or at least 37o degrees C but below 700 degrees C. The steel layer has the compn: 0.1-0.2%C pref. 0.12%, 1.5-2.5%Mn pref. 2%, 0.6-1.2%Si pref. 0.85%, 0-3%Cr 0.6%Mo, pref. 5.3%, 0-05%V, 0-6%Ni pref. 5.8% balance Fe.
