1,211,437. Clutch control. ETABS F. POTAIN & CIE. 13 Feb., 1968 [20 Feb., 1967], No. 7077/68. Heading F2L. [Also in Division B8] The control of an eddy current clutch 13-14 interposed between the drives from high and low power A.C. motors 16, 24, to a winch drum (see Division B8), in which the two motors drive in opposite directions, is effected by the comparison of D.C. voltages across the terminals of a resistance 31, as established between a value manually set at a potentiometer 37-38-39- 40 and the output voltage from the rotor circuit of the motor 24. The current in the said circuit is rectified at 30 to give the D.C. voltage at the resistance 31 and at a condenser 32 connected in parallel therewith. The mains supply is rectified at 36 prior to being applied to the potentiometer, which comprises a control resistance 37 and a calibration resistance 38. The comparison of the D.C. voltages will allow an impulse to be supplied to a mains powered unit 43 which includes rectifying diodes 48, 49 and thyratrons 44-45-46, from which the current to the inner armature winding 17 of the clutch is controlled. |
