摘要 The present invention relates to a medical device with improved biological properties for an at least partial contact with blood, bodily fluids and/or tissues when introduced in a mammalian body, which device comprises a core and a nucleic acid present in a biologically compatible medium. Said nucleic acid encodes a translation or transcription product, which is capable of promoting endothelialisation in vivo at least partially on a synthetic surface of said core. The present invention also relates to a method of producing a medical device according to the invention. Further, the present invention also relates to a method of improving a mammalian, preferably human, body's biocompatibility with a synthetic surface, which method comprises introducing a device according to the invention in the body with an at least partial contact with blood, bodily fluids and/or tissues and administering a nucleic acid present in a biologically compatible medium to the surroundings thereof. Said nucleic acid encodes a translation or transcription product capable of promoting endothelialisation in vivo at least partially on said synthetic surface. The administration of nucleic acid may in alternative embodiments be performed before, simultaneously as or after the introduction of the device in a body. In addition, combinations of these embodiments are also encompassed.
