A double slidebolt lock includes a back plate on which a sliding plate 1 is mounted. The sliding plate has two slidebolts 4 fitted to it. Each slide bolt has a projection 7. The sliding plate also has two hasps 5 attached to it. Three further hasps 5 are attached to the back plate. In use, both bolts can be slid to the locked position and secured in place with a padlock, preventing movement of the door to which the lock is attached. If the upper bolt is unlocked and moved so that it is secured by the middle of the three hasps on the back plate, the door is still locked, but can be unlocked by unlocking the lower bolt and moving it to the position shown. Regardless of the position of the lower bolt, the door can be locked again by the upper bolt. If the upper bolt is slid back so that it can be secured to the outermost of the three hasps on the back plate, the projection 7 engages support 6, and pulls the mounting plate back with it. This prevents the lower bolt from being used to lock the door, so that the door is permanently unlocked.
