PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk cartridge having a positioning reference surface stably supported when loaded in a recording and/or reproducing device. SOLUTION: This disk cartridge is provided with a cartridge main body 5 composed of upper and lower halves 3 and 4 for rotatably housing a magneto- optical disk 2, a recording/reproducing opening part 15 for setting the magneto- optical disk 2 to face a recording and/or reproducing means, a driving opening part 6 for the entry of a driving means for driving the magneto-optical disk 2 to rotate, and a shutter mechanism 23 for opening/closing the recording/ reproducing opening part 15 and the driving opening part 16. The cartridge main body 5 has a positioning reference surface in mechanically stronger one of the upper and lower halves 3 and 4 for a positioning means disposed in a recording/reproducing device.
