PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light-transmitting base body for an electrophotographic photoreceptor which has high transparency, little optical distortion, no deformation of the body, excellent dimensional stability and high flame-retardant property and which does not degrade the electrophotographic performance even when it is repeatedly used, by forming the light-transmitting base body from a polymer resin containing flame-retardant monomers as the copolymer component. SOLUTION: As for the polymerizable liquid starting material in the production process, methyl methacrylate is used, and divinylbenzene as a polyfunctional vinyl compd. and azoisobutyronitrile as a polymn. initiator are added. Further. flame- retardant monomers are added, and the mixture is preliminarily polymerized into a sate having >=10 cp and <=400 cp viscosity and poured into a cylindrical die. The mixture in the die is rotated while properly heated to promote uniform polymn. Then after polymn., the body is annealed and cooled to almost room temp. The obtd. base body is taken out from the die and cut, and if necessary, subjected to surface treatment to obtain the light-transmitting base body.
