PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter device that prevents an excessive short-circuit current from flowing in an inverter part when restarting the inverter device. SOLUTION: A forced turn-off drive circuit 6 is provided that forcibly turns off a first switching element Q1, if a first drive circuit 3 causes the 'on' state of the first switching element Q1 to continue for a given period of time when an abnormality detecting circuit is operated by detecting an abnormal state. If a driving signal outputted from the first drive circuit 3 remains at the H level which turns an inverter device into a stop state, the forced turn-off drive circuit 6 turns off the first switching element Q1 forcibly. As a result, the first and second switching elements Q1, Q2 are never turned on at the same time, which prevents an excessive current from flowing in the elements. This structure also prevents the deterioration of the performance of the first and second switching elements Q1, Q2 and the occurrence of failures including a puncture, thereby making it possible to provide a highly reliable inverter device. |
