PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an analyte in a specimen through chemiluminescence or electrochemiluminescence by using a derived test reagent. SOLUTION: A specimen is brought into contact with at least one chemiluminescent or electrochemiluminescent label radical which is bonded to an analyte specific receptor and a test reagent containing other test component, and the analyte in the specimen is detected through chemiluminescence or electrochemiluminescence. In this analyte detection method, the labeled receptor and/or he easily oxidizable chemical group is protected by derivation. Pref., the easily oxidizable chemical group is selected from a primary amino group, a secondary amino group, a Schiff base, a thiol base, an acetal group and a ketal base.
