PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance display luminance without sacrificing the transmissivity by providing a polarizing member making a light a linearly polarized light and a polarized light modulation member to modulate the polarization state of the linearly polarized light in between information displaying source and a combiner, and also making the reflectivity of the combiner differ according to the polarized state of the linearly polarized light. SOLUTION: A polarizing member 41 making a light a linearly polarized light and a polarized light modulation member 42 capable of modulating the polarization state of the linearly polarized light are provided in between information display source 30 and a combiner 20. Moreover, the reflectivity of the combiner 20 is made to differ in accordance with the polarized state of the linearly polarized light. In such a constitution, a light including information from the information display source 30 becomes to be the linearly polarized light and the polarized state of it is modulated by the polarized light modulation member 42. Then, the linearly polarized light is reflected by the bombiner 20 which has a polarization dependent reflectivity to reach the viewpoint 1 of an observer. Thus, an information display device which has a satisfactory visibility and is capable of adjusting the reflectivity in accordance with the brightness of surroundings by adjusting the reflectivity of the combiner 20.
