PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blanking method and device in a CAD/CAM system for a plate metal by which improvement of the layout efficiency of each cut shape and the yield is attained by arranging the cut shapes at target intervals at positions intended by an operator even when each cut for an object to be worked is complicated in shape. SOLUTION: The outside part of the outline of a member (cut shape) 3b to be arranged on a material (object to be worked) 2 is expanded by a member interval so that a virtual outline 3b' can be prepared. Then, the overlap distances in X and Y directions of each overlapped part of this virtual outline on an already arranged member 3a and the end part of the element 2 are calculated, and the virtual outline 3b' is moved so that those overlap distance can be turned into zero in the order of the smallest overlap distance. When all the overlapped parts are finally eliminated, the member 3b to be arranged is moved in the same direction and distance in which the virtual outline 3b' is moved so that the arranging position of the member 3b can be decided.
