PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust plural video sequences so that they match both spatially and temporally by repetitively obtaining correlation between a couple of fields of a reference video sequence that are apart by a prescribed time interval with a field of temporal transition inbetween and a couple of fields of a test video sequences apart by the same prescribed time interval. SOLUTION: Two video fields T(C) and T(C+K), that have the same time distance K as that between video fields R(L) and R(R) in a reference video sequence area selected from a test video sequence. The fields T(C) and T(C+K) become pairs with the sampled fields R(L), R(R) in time sequence. The space shift and the magnitude of correlation for the two pairs are obtained. When the space shift of the two pairs is the same and the sum of the magnitude of the correlation of the two pairs exceeds a minimum threshold, then this would mean that the space-time alignment is attained.
