PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical MODEM by which an existing electric signal communication system is easily changed into an optical communication system at a low cost. SOLUTION: The optical MODEM 41 is provided with an O/E conversion circuit 54 that converts a burst signal (optical signal) 5140 received via an optical fiber cable 1351 into a burst signal (electric signal) S54 and resets an internal state with a reset signal RESET, a non-reception period detection circuit 56 that detects a non-reception period in a burst period based on the burst signal S54, a reset signal generating circuit 57 that outputs the reset signal RESET to the O/E conversion circuit 54 within the detected non-reception period, a main data signal detection circuit 55 that generates a reception carrier detection signal CD that is active for a period corresponding to the main data signal in the burst signal S5 4, and an AND circuit 53 that extracts the main datasignal from the burst signal S54 based on the received carrier detection signal CD. |
