INPUT/OUTPUT CHARACTERISTIC CORRECTION METHOD AND RECORDING MEDIUM STORING ITS PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy of linearity in an input output characteristic of an output device after conversion by giving reference color data to the output device to allow the output device to display the data and generating correction data to correct nonlinearity between the reference color data and colorimetric data into linear data based on the reference color data and the colorimetric data obtained by applying colorimetry the displayed image. SOLUTION: A reference color data storage means 101 gives reference color data of lightness 0-255 as to each of RGB colors to a display data output means 102, which allows an input output characteristic corrected device 103 of a CRT to display the data. A colorimeter means 104 consists of a spectrophotometer, which measures a luminance of a color displayed on the input output characteristic corrected device 103 and gives the result to a colorimetric data storage means 105. A nonlinearity correction means 106 cross references the reference color data from the reference color data storage means 101 with the colorimetric data from the colorimetric data storage means 105 to produce an input output characteristic curve. Then the means 106 generates correction data of the input value corresponding to the input value so as to linearity the input output characteristic curve and stores the result to a correction data storage means 107.
