PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically change the compression ratio of image data to be stored without increasing a circuit scale. SOLUTION: This image processor 1 stores the image data inputted from an input part 15 in a first buffer 7. A pixel pattern detection part 8 detects how many image parts whose pattern matches with a predetermined reference pixel pattern are present in the plural image parts inside images indicated by the image data as an index showing the size relation of the data amount of the image data before compression and after the compression. An image data selection part 12 selects the image data before the compression in the case that the number of the matching image parts is equal to or more than a predetermined reference number and selects the image data after the compression in the case that the number of the matching image parts is less than the reference number based on the detected result of the pixel pattern detection part 8. The selected image data are stored in a memory storage part 13.
