PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal with superior operating convenience that the user can optionally select a ring tone in the case of producing a ring tone and a pattern of a ring tone arbitrarily selected is easily confirmed. SOLUTION: When a power switch 25 of a selective calling receiver 21 is switched from on to off, and a ring tone pattern presentation section 29b of a controller 29 extracts sequentially ring tones A, B, C stored in an EEPROM 28 in this order and provides an output of them to an indicator section 30. Thus, a loudspeaker 31 sounds the ring tone A, B, C sequentially, for 3 sec each so long as a push switch 27 is not depressed. For example, the ring tones A-C are respectively sounded from the loudspeaker 31 for 3 sec each, as long as no push switch 27 is operated. Moreover, a light emitting diode 32 is lighted at the same time. When the loudspeaker 31 sounds the ring tone C desired to be in use in the case of ringing a ting tone, the user depresses the push switch 27 to select and set the call by the ring tone C at the arrival of an external call.
