PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method in which a truncation error in transmission CT is corrected. SOLUTION: Single-photon-emission(SPE) CT data is acquired so as to obtain an SPECT image. In addition, transmission CT projection data is acquired so as to obtain a transmission CT image. The body contour of a subject is extracted from the SPECT image. While data which indicates the obtained body contour is used, the sum total value of the transmission CT projection data and the center of gravity of the transmission CT image are calculated by an oval approximation, After that, a truncation part is estimated on the basis of the sum total value of the transmission CT projection data and on the basis of the center of gravity of the transmission CT image, and a quadratic expression is extrapolated to the transmission CT projection data.
