ARITHMETIC OPERATION METHOD FOR VECTOR COMPUTER, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an arithmetic operation at a high speed adapted to the actual constitution of a vector computer such as the length of a queue and the number of memory banks by deciding the fixed interval of accessing a memory by a prescribed standard before substitution in a calculation method. SOLUTION: In the calculation method of obtaining the fixed interval (istr) of accessing the memory by the prescribed standard before the substitution of the calculation method, for the respective lines for which at least one component is not zero in the respective lines of non-diagonal components parallel to the lines of diagonal components in lower and upper triangular matrixes, in the case of dividing the number for indicating the parallel element of what order the line of the diagonal component is viewing from the line of the diagonal component by the istr, the istr for not turning the excess to zero is selected. The greatest common divisor of the istr and the number of the memory banks is calculated and the istr for turning the result to '1' is selected. The smallest istr in the possible number of candidates is obtained.
