PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately amplify contrast components without re-integrating by a method wherein a second output is detected prior to reading out an accumulated electric charges as a first output, and a processing method of the first output is switched in response to the second output. SOLUTION: An automatic gain control output signal AGCOS from a monitoring photodiode MPD is imparted to an integration time control part. The integration time control part decides whether or not an electric charge carrying amount of each line sensor reaches an appropriate value. This decision result is sent to a CCD control part, and a BG signal, a STICG signal and the like are imparted to each line sensor based on a signal from the integration time control part and a sensor control part to control operations. A CCD clock generation part transmits a common transfer clock to a shift register SR of the line sensor, and also a SH signal is imparted to the line sensors, respectively, to control a shift gate SH. The integration time control part calculates a contrast of electric charges based on a monitor signal, to decide an amplification mode and an amplification factor. |
