PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric transformer capable of stable and sure mounting which can obtain high conversion efficiency. SOLUTION: On a surface of a substrate 5 for mounting a piezoelectric element 1, a plurality of struts are formed which protrude at positions corresponding to nodes of vibration of the elements 1, surround the elements 1, retain it on the substrate 5, and have protrusions 7a protruding toward the direction of the element 1 and not being in contact with the element 1. Buffer material is interposed between a plurality of the protrusions 7a and the element 1. First electrodes 2-3, 2-4 having a first surface and a second surface which face mutually each other are formed at mutually corresponding positions on one end portion sides of the first and second surfaces. Second electrodes 2-1, 2-2, 2-5, 2-6 are formed at mutually corresponding positions on the other end portion sides of the first and second surfaces. The piezoelectric element 1 generating lateral vibration in the direction from the first electrodes 2-3, 2-4 toward the second electrodes is retained without being in contact with the substrate 5.
