PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide body which is capable of guiding the luminous flux made incident from a light incident surface and reflected and emitted from and by a saw blade-like reflection part to a prescribed condensing position and efficiently utilizing this luminous flux, an illumination device which improves illumination efficiency by using this light transmission body and an image reader which uses the same. SOLUTION: This light guide body is a columnar translucent member having the light incident surface 2 at its end face, has a light exit surface 4 in part of its flank and has the saw blade-like reflection part 3 on the surface facing the light exit surface 4. The saw blade-like reflection part 3 comprises plural reflection surfaces 3a. The angleαof the respective reflection surfaces 3a to the longitudinal direction of the light transmission body is set larger on the reflection surfaces more distant from the light incident surface 2 than the reflection surfaces 3a near the light incident surface 2.
