PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide soft magnetic alloy powder whose relative permeability is large when a comparatively large DC current (magnetic field) is applied and core loss is small and which is suitable for a dust core. SOLUTION: Fe-Si based soft magnetic alloy powder is composed of atomize powder where Si of 0.5-8.0 wt.% is contained, O is regulated to be equal to or lower than 0.5 wt.%, and the residual part is practically composed of atomize powder having component composition of Fe. When a particle shape of powder is two-dimensionally observed, the average of a ratio LL/LS of the length of a long axis LL and a length of a short axis LS is in a range from 1.0 to 3.5. A dust core is obtained by compounding the Fe-Si based soft magnetic alloy powder and bonding agent serving as insulating agent and performing pressed powder molding.
