PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the workload of an operator. SOLUTION: This device for automatically recognizing image information also reads code information being the classification information of a drawing inputted on a page space from the page space at the time of reading the page space of the drawing by an image scanner 2, character-recognizes only the code information part by a code information recognizing part 1a, and judges the classification of image data by using this as a character string. Then, a CPU 1 attach strings to the image data and the code information, and respectively stores each information in a code information storage file 4 and an image data storage file 5. Thus, an inputting operation at the time of managing the drawing as the image data can be simplified.
