PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain highly precise position collation by operating the position collation of an orbit distortion by using a rail joint, and operating double position collation by using the waveform of the elevation error of an orbit. SOLUTION: In this position collation method, data numbers are added to a specific block from a certain spot to a certain spot in each prescribed interval by using the km of the rail joint of a rail joint ledger as a reference so that a km data number cross-reference (KDT chart) can be prepared as a reference file. Then, the position of the rail joint of the reference file is collated with the position of the rail joint detected by a high speed orbit detecting vehicle so that the position collation of orbit distortion detected by the high speed orbit detecting vehicle can be attained. Also, the chart waveform of the past elevation distortion detected by the high speed orbit detecting vehicle is collated with the chart waveform of the elevation dislocation detected by the high speed orbit detecting vehicle in addition to position collation corresponding to the KDT chart so that the double position collation of the orbit distortion detected by the high speed orbit detecting vehicle can be attained. Thus, highly precise position collation can be attained.
