PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which effectively reproduces an imperfect R-Fe-B sintered magnet, especially an unnecessary R-Fe-B sintered magnet which has been subjected to metal plating surface treatment or Al surface covering treatment, to alloy powder for an R-Fe-B based sintered magnet in which main phase crystal grains are left as they are. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of material powder for an R-Fe-B magnet, a part of a metal plating layer of an R-Fe-B sintered magnet member which has been subjected to metal plating surface treatment is peeled, and smashing is performed by using hydrogen occluding treatment. Sifting treatment is performed, and thin chips of the metal plating layer left on a sieve are separated and eliminated. Smashed objects under the sieve are more smashed, subjected to acid cleaning treatment, dried, and subjected to Ca reducing treatment. Ca component is eliminated by cleaning with water, and drying is performed. In the other manufacturing method of material powder for an R-Fe-B magnet, an R-Fe-B sintered magnet member which is subjected to Al surface covering treatment is smashed. Alkali cleaning treatment is performed, and an Al surface covering layer is eluded and eliminated, and residual powder is subjected to acid cleaning treatment. Powder treated by acid cleaning is subjected to Ca reducing treatment. Ca component is removed by cleaning with water, and drying is performed. |
