PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of being added with a high-grade image pickup function and being made thin in thickness. SOLUTION: Light L1 from an object is made incident to a light shielding plate 3 and passed through respective plural apertures 3a and afterwards, images are formed on plural area sensors 11 by plural microlenses 2a. In this case, the subject formed on each area sensor 11 is the entire image of the object. Therefore, the plural entire images of the object are picked up by the plural area sensors 11. Besides, plural optical systems composed of sections corresponding to optical paths from the apertures 3a of the light shielding plate 3 through the microlenses 2a to the area sensors 11 provided at a recessed part 1a are respectively independent and provide peculiar optical characteristics for each area sensor 11.
