PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a barrier, which can be easily released from a recessed plate, for a highly precise and high density display panel at low costs by using water as a solvent. SOLUTION: Slurry 14 is poured into a recessed part of a barrier forming recessed plate 11 by means of a squeegee and the like, and the barrier forming recessed plate 11 is reversed after a glass substrate 13 is pressed to the barrier forming recessed plate 11 upper part. After water content of the slurry 14 is absorbed, the barrier forming recessed plate 11 is lifted up, and the slurry 14 is transferred to the glass substrate 13 so as to be burnt. Desirably, the recessed plate 11 is made of a material with a barrier forming composition solvent absorbing characteristic and provided with a recessed part in a predetermined pattern. For this material, gypsam is suitable, and the recessed plate 11 is provided with a mold releasing layer formed in the recessed part. Preferably, the recessed part face side of the barrier forming recessed plate 11 is pressed to the substrate 13 after a barrier forming composition is applied to the substrate 13, the recessed part is filled with the composition, a solvent in the composition is absorbed so that the composition is hardened, the recessed plate 11 is released from the substrate 13, and then, burning is carried out for forming a barrier.
