PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small-sized process cartridge capable of transmitting information to an image forming device main body with high reliability and at a low cost by installing a storing means for storing information on the process cartridge on an electrostatic latent image carrier and reading the information by an information reading means installed in the image forming device main body. SOLUTION: On the surface of a photoreceptor drum 3, a bar code 12 on which the information on the cartridge is recorded is put outside an image area so that the reading direction may be parallel to the rotating/moving direction A of the photoreceptor drum 3. In the case of reading the bar code 12, the bar code 12 is irradiated with image forming laser light, and the reflected light is received by an optical sensor 13 installed in the proper position in the device main body. By such a constitution, the bar code 12 itself is moved in accordance with the rotation of the photoreceptor drum 3, then, if only the optical sensor 13 can continuously read light intensity at a single part, any type of the optical sensor 13 is permitted, so that the miniaturization and the cost reduction are attained. |
