n anchor 1 includes a base member 2 of triangular shape when viewed in plan, with a vertex of triangular shaped base member 2 constituting a leading end of the anchor, which is intended to assisting anchorage of the anchor within a given holding. Base member 2 is formed from two opposed wing members 3, 4 each triangularly shaped when viewed in plan. Wing members 3, 4 are joined along a line constituting a centre line 7 for anchor and are disposed at angle to one another such that when viewed in end elevation. Base member 2 is v-shaped and each wing member includes at the leading or free end thereof, a down-turned portion 6 which constitutes part of the leading end of base member 2 assisting in digging in of anchor in the holding. A shank member 20 is fixedly attached to base member 2 and is adapted to receive and releasably retain at least one anchor cable. Stabilizing means 30, 31 is adapted to be attached to base member 2 and serves to ensure that anchor 1 readily assumes its operating configuration and/or is restored to the operating configuration even after having been disturbed therefrom.
