toothbrush comprises a plastics head 2 having bristle bearing segments 6, 7 resiliently and flexibly linked to each to other. Each bearing segment has a plurality of widthways extending row of bristle tufts. The head comprises a maximum of two such segments. The first segment is a rigid base segment 6 rigidly adjoining handle 1 extending from base end 3 of head 2 to a link region situated between base end 3 and the tip end. The second segment is a rigid tip segment extending from the tip end of the head to the link region and is flexibly and resiliently linked at the link region to base segment 6. The link region comprises a composite structure made of both plastics material and an elastomeric material and is in the longitudinal half of the head furthest from the base end of head 2.
