PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform optimum processing corresponding to the capacity of the image memory area of a printer and the data amount of image data for respective output units and to shorten the time of entire printing. SOLUTION: In this data processor 10, the data amount of the printed dataϕ2 of a page unit is predicted based on the size, resolution and read mode of an original set to a scanner 2 in a data amount prediction part 25. Also, the capacity of the image memory area 36 provided for this printer 5 is recognized by a memory capacity obtaining part 27. In a compression part 28, the data amount and the capacity are compared, and when the data amount is less than the capacity, a commandϕ3 for storing the printing dataϕ2 in the image memory area 36 without compressing them on a printer side is outputted. Also, when the data amount is more than the capacity, the commandϕ3 for compressing the printing dataϕ2 and then storing them in the image memory area 36 on the printer side is outputted.
