PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the radiation image obtained on the back side of a panel by changing the average particle diameter of stimulable phosphor particles in the direction of the depth of a phosphor layer. SOLUTION: A radiation image conversion panel 11 consists of a transparent support 1, a stimulable phosphor layer P1 as a lower layer, and a stimulable phosphor layer P2 as an upper layer and a protective film 2. In this case, the back side (the lower side) 11a means that of the support 1 and the front side (the upper side) 11b means that of the protective film 2. Then, the average particle diameter of particles of stimulable phosphors is small on the side of the phosphor layer P2 and is large on the side of the phosphor layer P1. Moreover, the phosphor layer P2 contains phosphor particles of about 20 to 100 wt.%. The peak of the particle diameter distribution ranges from about 1 to 4μm in the phosphor layer P2. The average particle diameter of the stimulable phosphors in the phosphor layer P1 ranges from about 4 to 10μm.
