摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To concurrently conduct free water correction and conduct temperature correction, using a density sensor jointly. SOLUTION: A method and a device for measuring the quantity of free water contained in a substance include a wave guide 64, having a front face part and a back part 66, 68 arranged facing each other. The waveguide 64 partitions a chamber 74 for propagating a microwave signal through it. The wave guide 64 has an end part 78 perpendicular to the front face part and the back part 66, 68 for forming a short-circuit part within the chamber 74. The front face part and the back part 66, 68 have respective openings 80 for making the substance pass through it. The microwave signal within a range of 10-25 GHz of frequency advances to pass through the chamber 74, and the microwave signal is reflected in the short-circuit part of the end part 78 to be returned. The generated and reflected signal forms a used ratio by a microprocessor 60, a measured value from a neighboring sensor 12 provides a measured value of a dielectric constant corresponding to a density of the substance, and thereby free water-corrected weight of the substance is determined.
