PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour correction circuit capable of preventing the degradation of the S/N of video signals and preventing the generation of overshoots and preshoots in the contour part of the video signals. SOLUTION: The video signals S1 are over-sampled in an ADC 102 and then, time-sequentially stored in delay circuits 103-107. In the meantime, the video signals S1 are differentiated in a differentiation circuit 109 and the rising and falling levels are ranked in a comparator 111. A data selector 108 takes out and outputs video signal data from one of the delay circuits 103-107 corresponding to ranking signals from the comparator 111.
