stress plate 10 for use with a threaded fastener for securing a member to a base structure, comprises a planar main body 12 disposed within a first plane and having an outer peripheral edge 14 vertically spaced from the first plane so as to be disposed within a second plane. Stress plate 10 has a predetermined thickness dimension, and a recessed portion 20, having an upper portion commencing within the first plane of the planar main body and a lower portion terminating within the second plane of the outer peripheral edge of the planar main body such that the recessed portion has a depth substantially equal to the predetermined thickness dimension of stress plate 10, defined within a central portion of stress plate 10 for accommodating a head portion of a threaded fastener to be inserted through stress plate 10 in order to secure a member to a base structure. An aperture 22 is defined within a central portion of stress plate 10 and is coaxial with recessed portion 20 of planar main body 12 for receiving a threaded shank portion of a threaded fastener. A non-threaded, cylindrical, tubular sleeve means 38, having opposite upper and lower ends, circumscribes aperture 22, and has a predetermined axial length such that the upper end of tubular sleeve means 38 is integral with the lower portion of recessed portion 20 of planar main body 12 such that tubular sleeve means 38 and recessed portion 20 of planar main body 12 comprise a one-piece structure. The upper end of tubular sleeve means 38 is disposed within the second plane of outer peripheral edge 14 of planar main body while the lower end of tubular sleeve means 38 depends axially downwardly from recessed portion 20 of planar main body 12 a predetermined distance below the second plane defined by outer peripheral edge 14 of planar main body 12. The upper end of tubular sleeve 38 is for receiving a threaded shank portion of a threaded fastener when a threaded fastener is inserted through aperture 22 and is for engaging only the crest portions of a threaded portion of a threaded fastener when a threaded fastener is inserted through aperture 22 defined within planar main body 12 so as to maintain a threaded fastener perpendicular to stress plate 10.
