PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the display picture fault caused by a moving picture false contour to be a fault in assigning intesity levels in a subfield system, in a display device such as a plasma display. SOLUTION: The subfield of the bit, which is an m-th bit from a most significant bit (n and m are positive integers and if m is 1, it represents a most significant bit, where n>=m), is placed at the center of all subfield interval and the bits other than the m-th bit are arranged in an approximately axially symmetrical manner on both sides of the subfields of the m-th bit to make up a subfield arrangement. Moreover, the subfields of the low-order bit are arranged on both sides of the nearest proximity of the subfields located at the center of the field interval and the order of the subfields are reversed at odd number subfields and even number subfields. Furthermore, the symmetrically arranged subfields are separated into odd line scannings and even line scannings and are arranged in both sides. |
