SHIELDED-ELECTRIC CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shielded-electric connector assembly having a new and improved shielding system wherein an ESD shield and EMI shield are electrically separated from each other. SOLUTION: This shielded-electric connector assembly is composed of a receptacle connector 14 including an ESD shield 58 disposed in a periphery of a forward fitting end 26; and a plug connector 16 provided with a forward fitting end 76a capable of inserting into the forward fitting 26 of the receptacle connector 14 and including a peripheral metal shield 86 disposed in the periphery of the forward fitting end 76a. A complementary mutual engaging latch means 114, disposed between the peripheral metal shield 86 of the plug connector 16 and an insulating housing of the receptacle connector 14, is provided so as to electrically separate the peripheral metal shield 86 of the plug connector 16 from the ESD shield 58 of the receptacle connector 14.
