PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable pattern recognizing device by which influence of fluctuating components is minimized by removing unnecessary pattern fluctuation for personal identification. SOLUTION: The pattern recognizing device is constituted of an image input part 11, a face area extracting part 12, a feature point of face extracting part 13, a normalized image generating part 14, a partial space generating part 15, a restricted partial space storage part 16, a dictionary partial space storage part 17, a partial space projecting part 18, a mutual partial space calculating part 19, a judging part 20 and a display part 21, an inputted partial space is calculated from an inputted pattern, a dictionary partial space is calculated from a dictionary pattern, a restricted partial space is calculated from a restricting condition, the inputted partial space and the dictionary partial space are projected on the restricted partial space and the inputted pattern is discriminated from the dictionary pattern from the projected inputted partial space and the dictionary partial space.
