Cutting tools of hard wear resistant material

The polygonal indexable cutting insert has a body of wear resistant material, e.g. cemented carbide or ceramic. The body may be coated with e.g. diamond, boron nitride or ceramic. Two adjacent flanks (20,22) form cutting edges at the intersection with the top and bottom surfaces. Adjacent a lead cutting (40) is a finish cutting edge (42) extending from corner (28) to corner (32). A land (50) extends around a corner to the finish cutting edge.
