A disc brake (1) lining for railway rolling stock or commercial vehicles is fixed to an disc anchorage plate (2). The lining (1) has a number of pads (31-37), each of which is secured by a line of three rivets (4). The plan view of each pad is essentially a racetrack with parallel sides and round ends. The orientation of each respective line of rivets is parallel (L1-L7) to the racetrack sides. Each line of rivets (L1-L7) is set at an angle alpha to the direction (E) at which the pads track over the disc. The angle alpha of each pad is different to that of the other pads, but is not more than 45 degrees.
