Airbag module for vehicle occupant restraint system

The airbag module has an intermediate wall (14) downstream of folded region of airbag (8) which is connected to tension transmitter (24). After activation of gas generator (6) it is pushed by the gas such that the tension transmitter pulls the cover (16,18) off from the opening (10). The tension transmitter opens the cover before feeding the gas into the airbag. Once the cover is completely open, the gas is fed into the airbag.
