Image generator generates part images (14,15), each with number of image points composed from color components. Part image mixer combines part images alternately in sequence of part image strips (17) with different color components (18). Image reproduction unit forms images of image points of strips for each part image in associated eye of observer. Mixer unit sequences only one color component of each part image strip so images of selected individual components of adjacent strips of part image are formed coincidentally in eye.
