A retainer clip (16) adapted to engage a recess (20) in a shank (18) of a cutting tool (12) for securing the cutting tool to a support block (14) as disclosed. The retainer clip (16) includes a clip body (25) having first and second end portions (28 and 29) and at least three protruding portions (34) disposed between the end portions (28 and 29). The protruding portions (34) are adapted to extend beyond the shank (18) when the retainer clip (16) is engaging the recess (20).
