摘要 A new optical glass contains 95-100 wt.% total of P2O5, BaO and Al2O3 and has a photo elasticity constant below 0.5/*10<-12> Pa. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) a low photo elasticity constant glass for an optical polarization control element, comprising 95-100 wt.% total of 41-52 wt.% P2O5, 47-57 wt.% BaO and 0.5-5 wt.% Al2O3; (ii) a low photo elasticity constant glass for an optical polarization control element, having a composition within the area defined by the points A, B, G, H, I, J, K and F on the P2O5-BaO-Al2O3 ternary diagram shown in the drawing; (iii) an optical element made of one of the above glasses; (iv) a polarized beam splitter employing the above optical element; (v) a liquid crystal projector employing the above polarized beam splitter; (vi) a process for producing a low photo elasticity constant glass; (vii) an optical glass containing 95-100 wt.% total of 41-52 wt.% P2O5, 47-57 wt.% BaO and 0.5-5 wt.% Al2O3; and (viii) an optical glass containing 95-100 wt.% total of 40-46 wt.% P2O5, 52-58 wt.% BaO and 0.5-5 wt.% Al2O3.
