The pot has a control with a menu button (111) for choosing a preparation mode, a timer button (114) for adjusting a duration of a predetermined preparation process in dependence on the preparation mode, a display arrangement for displaying the mode and the expected preparation duration, an alarm arrangement for displaying a food entry time and a preparation end time, an electrically operated steam outlet valve for letting out steam under pressure from the pot, a release button (115) for activating the steam outlet valve manually.
