FIELD: biotechnology, medicine, biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to enzyme chondroitinase used in chemical-pharmaceutical industry, highly purified chondroitinase and the method of enzyme preparing and pharmaceutical compositions containing this enzyme. Invention relates to enzyme chondroitinase ABC from Proteus vulgaris cells, its molecular mass is 100 000 Da, isoelectric point is 8.3-8.5, enzyme has alanine as N-terminal amino acid and proline as C-terminal amino acid. Method of preparing involves extraction of cells of indicated microorganism, removal of nucleic acids and chromatography using strong and weak cation-exchange resins. Purified enzyme chondroitinase ABC is needle-like and prismatic crystals of the definite crystalline lattice. Pharmaceutical compositions has the purified enzyme in combination with additionally added nonionic surface-active substance and stabilizing agents.
