The spark plug has a metallic cylindrical body (10) and inset into this is an insulator (11) with a central contact bolt (12). This engages a resistance coupled to the center electrode (15) via a contact (14). The resistor is of high temperature wire wound into a coil. Alternatively the resistance can be formed of a wound strip material.
