Aqueous polymer dispersion contains a water-dispersible silicon compound(s) and a water-soluble or -dispersible phosphorous compound(s) and gives good flame retardance. Aqueous dispersion comprises a water-insoluble organopolymer(s), a water-dispersible silicon compound(s) and a water-soluble or -dispersible phosphorous compound(s). Independent claims are included for the production of the above dispersions by mixing the components and fibrous materials treated with the dispersions.
