The needle changer is operated by an additional movement of the needle bar (2), which engages a spring loaded catch on the appropriate needle adapter in a magazine. The additional lift is obtained by moving the hinge point (B0) of the drive link (5) from the normal operating position (OT') to another position (ZH') by a drive (18), e.g. a pneumatic cylinder.
